Sweet Summer Memories

The first time I tasted cherry sorbet, it was a scorching July afternoon. My neighbor handed me a spoonful—icy, tangy, and bursting with ripe cherry flavor. That one bite made me forget the heat. Ever wondered how you could turn summer’s best fruit into a frosty escape? Now, I make this treat every year when cherries hit their peak. It’s like bottling sunshine—but way colder.

My Cherry Blunder

My first try at this sorbet was messy. I forgot to pit the cherries—crunchy bites aren’t fun. After that, I learned to double-check each cherry. Cooking teaches patience, and small steps matter. Now, I savor the slow process. Who knew a kitchen fail could taste so sweet in the end?

Why This Sorbet Shines

– The lemon juice brightens the cherries, making flavors pop. – Sugar balances the tartness, but you control how sweet it gets. Which flavor combo surprises you most—cherry-lemon or another fruit duo? Try swapping cherries for peaches or mangoes. Share your twist below!

A Bite of History

Sorbet dates back to ancient Persia, where snow was mixed with fruit syrups. Later, Italy made it famous with citrus flavors. *Did you know the word “sorbet” comes from the Arabic “sharbat”?* This cherry version is my nod to those old traditions—simple, fresh, and timeless. Description

Experience the refreshing taste of summer with this Fresh Cherry Sorbet, made with juicy cherries and a hint of lemon.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Add cherries to the bowl of a food processor. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar (or monkfruit sweetener) and lemon juice.
  2. Process until smooth and sugar has dissolved, then taste the mixture to see if it needs additional sweetener (this will depend on the sweetness of your cherries and your personal preference). If so, add an additional tablespoon or so of sweetener, then pulse to incorporate.
  3. Pour mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container and close its lid. Transfer pint to a level surface in the freezer for at least 24 hours.
  4. Remove container from freezer and take off its lid. Place pint into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami, securing the outer bowl lid. Transfer bowl apparatus to the Ninja Creami machine, locking it into place. Press the Sorbet button and allow the cycle to complete.
  5. If the mixture appears crumbly after the first spin, you can insert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin button.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use ripe and sweet cherries. Adjust sweetness according to taste.
